January Jumpstart Challenge

Happy New Year to me... happy new year to you! 

My teammates Matthew and Jared put out this January Jumpstart Challenge. This is exactly what I needed coming back to Los Angeles.

HERE'S THE CHALLENGE IN 4 PARTS:

From Monday, January 6 to Friday, January 31

1 - ONE GALLON H2O – EVERY DAY! Yes, you’ll be in the bathroom more often; yes a gallon seems like a lot; yes your body will love you!

2 - GREENS – EVERY DAY! This could be a simple blender full of kale, an apple, a few berries and water or you could buy a green super-food powder and add that to your favorite smoothie, or you could also simply eat one serving of greens. Other options: broccoli, chard, collards, spinach, mustard, and cabbage. So many nutrients, so delicious!

3 - 60 MINUTES OF EXERCISE – 6 DAYS/WEEK! You have a lot of options for this one. It could be a class (yoga, spin, bootcamp) or hit the gym for weight training or treadmill, or go outside and run, cycle, swim, or any number of sports. If getting to a gym or class or planning something like a bike ride is not possible, break up that 60 minutes into chunks of time such as this example:
o 20min when you get out of bed (8 squats, 8 pushups, 8 jumping jacks, 8 chair dips, 8 burpees – do these all in a row and repeat until you reach 20 min)
o 20min at lunch – after eating your lunch take a 20 minute power (purposeful strides) walk
o 20min prior to bed stretch/foam roll, yoga, Pilates (lots of instructional videos on YouTube)

4 - NO BOOZE! No variations on this one – dry out in January!
